Privacy clarification: The code you convert with jats2dbk here is not uploaded to our servers.
Both JATS and DocBook are used a lot and often for different purposes, but sometimes both can be used for similar purposes. Therefore, converting JATS to DocBook may be useful, despite of the fact that their major conceptual differences makes it challenging to convert one of them to the other and no JATS to DocBook converter will ever be able to fulfil every need. Some converters already exist, but their functionality is of course limited. Not finding any JATS to DocBook converter fulfilling my own needs, I wrote one in XSLT, which despite of its limitations, fulfills my needs and I make it available here under the AGPL license. This JATS to DocBook converter has of course some limitations, though. For example:
I hope to be able to update my code further to achieve better conversions, focusing on elements common to the four most common JATS schemas: archiving, authoring, kipling and publishing. Feel free to contact the author if you find any major issue with this convertor.
To convert off-line using your favorite terminal, run for example:
xsltproc jats2dbk.xslt input.jats
or
xsltproc -o output.dbk --stringparam "TeXtreatment" "footnote" jats2dbk.xslt input.jats
